This site is where I display my paintings. I'm going to write about art and how it's influenced my life.
I love to paint and have been painting as long as I can remember. To begin with, I was born in Cuba, the son of Spaniards. My parents were from the Canary Islands. I am the last of 5 brothers and sisters that exist or is actually still alive. I was born in Regla, a small town in Cuba, just outside Havana.
My love for art has been around since I can remember. I was born on September 22, 1921 with art in me. I am self taught. My first drawing was at the age of six. I competed and won first prize against another aficionado. I'm not an academic artist. I've always studied art on my own.
I lived in Cuba until 1960. My wife and 2 children left then to go to Santiago, Chile. We lived there for 2 1/2 years but I always painted. We then traveled to El Paso, Texas and Albuquerque, New Mexico where I attended the University of New Mexico. After a year at Univ of NM we moved to Chicago, Illinois from 1966 to 1972. Then we moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico and I attended the University of Puerto Rico. In 1978 we returned to El Paso, always painting.
And now we live in the D/FW area of Texas; painting as always. On September 22 of this year I turned 88 years old. I have never lost the will to live and to paint.
